Effective altruism for jews
The effective altruism community is a global community of people who care deeply about the world, make helping others a significant part of their lives, and use evidence and reason to figure out how best to do so. You can read more about the community here.
EA for Jews is a group of people committed to sharing the ideas of effective altruism in the Jewish community and building a community of Jewish effective altruists. Our community is growing and if you are interested in exploring these ideas further or engaging with our community we would love to connect with you!
While effective altruism is a largely secular movement, we believe it also contains an exciting opportunity for Jews of all types–religious and secular alike. Our Jewish culture, history, and religion inspire us to help our global neighbors and use evidence and reason to do so as best we can. This is really at the heart of effective altruism–and at the heart of many core Jewish teachings. Of course there are tensions between the philosophy of effective altruism and Judaism as well; join us in examining these tensions rigorously through conversation, study, and community.
